Meet Dr. Eleanor
Welcome to my website: www.eleanorsteinmd.ca
I am a psychiatrist in private practice in Calgary, Alberta, Canada and a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Calgary. I have participated in several research studies and I am currently a steering committee member of the ICanCME research group. I plan to contribute to the development of accredited, online CME modules for health care professionals with the goal of closing the service gap. To access my publications and some presentations go to the Publications page.
What I do
For the past 20 years, I have worked exclusively with patients with Myalgic Encephalomyelitis / Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Fibromyalgia and Environmental Sensitivities." I created this website to help provide education and resources for those with these difficult-to-navigate illnesses.
My career objective is that every patient in Canada with ME/CFS, FM and ES will have access to timely, accurate diagnosis and compassionate, evidence-based treatment within the Canadian, publicly funded health care system. The need for ME/CFS, FM and ES help has become overwhelmingly apparent. With my private, in-person practice having a large waitlist, I wanted to help provide more resources to those who are looking for immediate information and guidance.
Services I Provide
In-person group psychotherapy: My experience is that the group setting leads to empowerment and lasting change as patients work towards physical and mental health goals. By making group psychotherapy a focus, I am able to reach more people more effectively than with an individual care model. For more information on the groups currently offered, please go to Group Psychotherapy.

Group psychotherapy during COVID: Due to the current climate. Group psychotherapy is now provided via online sessions. The residents of Alberta can access my group psychotherapy as an insured medical service. You need a referral from a physician, nurse practitioner or psychologist. Online education courses for ME/CFS, FM and ES. A service I started providing as a response to the need for education and help with those who deal with Myalgic Encephalomyelitis / Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, or Fibromyalgia and Environmental Sensitivities. I have multiple options to meet your needs- there is an overview course called Pathways to Improvement, a ten-session online education program. I also provide individual courses called Single Pathways that cover individual topics that cover a single module more in-depth.
ETeam is a service I am a founder of. It is the only multidisciplinary team in Canada offering an objective assessment of cognitive, exercise and sensory function in people with ME/CFS, FM, and ES. See the ETeam page for more details on our services and fees.
