About the Presenters
Dr. Werner Becker, MD
Â
Dr. Becker is a neurologist and currently Professor Emeritus at the University of Calgary. He graduated with an MD degree from the University of Manitoba and completed his neurology training at McGill University, Montreal.
In 2003, he founded the Calgary Headache Assessment and Management Program (CHAMP), a multidisciplinary program dedicated to improving the lives of those with headaches in Calgary and Southern Alberta. He is a past–president of the Canadian Headache Society and has focused his clinical work on headache for many years.

Dr. Becker has published over 100 peer-reviewed medical papers, many dealing with headache and its treatment. He has served on the boards of the International Headache Society, the American Headache Society, the Canadian Headache Society, Migraine Canada and the Pain Society of Alberta.
He has received numerous Canadian and American awards, including the Alberta Medical Association Medal for Distinguished Service (2013), Canadian Headache Society John Edmeads Award (2018), The Pain Society of Alberta Lifetime Achievement Award (2019) and the John R. Graham Clinicians' Award (2011) from the American Headache Society.
Dr. Becker has published two books: Rafting the Great Northern Rivers: The Nahanni, Firth, and Tatshenshini and Rafting the Snake: A Journey through the Yukon’s Snake River Wilderness. More information is available at www.greatnorthernrivers.ca.
Eleanor Stein, MD
Dr. Stein is a physician, psychiatrist, and expert in helping people with ME, CFS, FM, environmental sensitivities, long COVID and chronic pain recover their health and joy in life.
